When Hope Travels Eight Hours
“I visited the Matibabu Hospital in Ukwala, after traveling all the way from Nairobi, on the 23rd of October, 2025.
This was in the wake of a Social Media post that was posted by Deborah Auko, urging the people from Siaya and it's environs, who were in dire need of medical attention, and who were on economic hardship to benefit from the free Medical Camp.
Upon arrival, the Front Desk staff were very jovial and helpful. Dr. Ahomo gave me the initial consultation, and directed me to talk to the Hospital Administrator.
I was well received, and after a few negotiations and pleadings here and there, consequently got the SHA Cover, and even had the chance to meet the U.S based medic, Dr. Mercy Otieno and her Medical Team. Things even got way much better, for I was able to benefit from the Surgical Team.
The hospitality, caring nature that I received from Matibabu Hospital, from the Hospital Administrator Dr. Dan Ogola was and still remains unmatched. Bless him!
On the 27th of October at around 10AM, I finally had a consultation with the Specialist - the Gynaecologist Dr Oduor. I explained to him my issues with the overgrow Fibroids. Prior to this, I had already undergone a Surgery when I lived in France.... although it re-developed.
I had a review on my healing this week on Tuesday the 18th of November, 2025, with the Gynaecologist, Dr. Oduor. The wound is healing very well, and I'm very happy.
And off the cuff, the Hospital Rooms are clean, and the meals are great too. The Compound is serene, which offers a great conducive atmosphere for recuperation and healing. I highly recommend Matibabu Hospital in Ukwala for all.
I am forever indebted and grateful to the Hospital Administrator, the Counselor, the doctors, nursing team, and other front desk staff, and to the security team too.
Shukran a gazillion times! Bless you!
